Juvenile sentence reduction hearing postponed

The Connecticut Sentencing Commission hearing that had been planned for Nov. 8 has been postponed until later this month, due to lingering effects of the recent bad weather in some areas of the state.
The hearing will be Thursday, Nov. 29 at noon in Room 2C of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave., in Hartford.
Sign-up for the hearing will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 9:30 a.m., and will take place at the LOB 1st floor atrium. Speaker order will be decided by a lottery system.
At a meeting on Dec. 20, the commission will consider a draft proposal, "to allow a person sentenced to a lengthy term of imprisonment for a crime committed when the person was under 18 to seek release under parole supervision after serving a substantial portion of the sentence."
